Seeing as I love oranges- only the ripe ones that actually have flavor straight from Florida- I thought I would take a moment and write a journal before my membership ends for the year and commemorate the great appeal of oranges. haha... or not. Anyway, sliced properly and eaten straight off the rind, oranges are my favorite, and are closely followed by sugared grapefruit, both of which I have in my apartment but have been too lazy to eat...
Part of the appeal of these fruits have come from eating Florida picked oranges from my grandparents who lived in Florida during the winter months for some time. They do not travel south frequently anymore however, so it appears I must have to make the journey myself. Fortunately, If I'm lucky that will be the case.
Just recently, I have applied to University of Florida to study truffles in the Pecan industry- basically, the only PhD position I would ever be interested in. This brings me great excitement that I can have the prize pick of the mushroom industry while still exploring something new in the presence of oranges!
I can't remember how bad my allergies were the last time I was in Florida, but I'm optimistic that if I get to do my PhD there, i will be happy. Perks being that
will be 3.5 hours away. Well, my job is done on the application. Wish me luck through the waiting process.
